Note
Edvard Munchs portrett av Felix Auerbach er listet som nr. 50 i katalogen, inkludert en kort omtale om Felix Auerbachs liv og virke. Følgende står skrevet på s. 6: Felix Auerbach was professor of theoretical physics at Jena University and the uncle of the present owner. His house was a centre of great cultural activity and among friends he numbered Walter Gropius, Julius Meier-Graefe and Edvard Munch. This portrait was painted while Munch was visiting the health spas of Thuringia in the winter of 1906 and for it the artist received a fee of 500 marks. The picture was published for the first time in "Burlington Magazine" (v.i.) and an offprint of this article accompanies this painting.
